five simple things #10
Spring is in the air! I spent the morning with my oldest friend (we have been friends since kindergarten) walking and found our way to a fun lunch spot. Wearing only a sweatshirt was a welcomed change from long coats and winter hats. I will admit that I am not fully on board with day light savings yet. I know the lingering sun during the evenings will feel so good but losing an hour today feels like I a scrambling to get everything done. Here is to hoping to can check off everything on my list by bed time!
1. International Women’s Day. This is the first year that I have been fully cognizant and recognized International Women’s Day. Equality is a topic that I have been thinking more about after attending a lecture specifically about women in my field of work and having started Fair Play. I don’t have the words yet to articulate my thoughts but I know in the future I will.
2. Female Businesses. In the spirit of supporting women, I wanted to include some of my personal favorite female owned businesses.
Gingiber is a fantastic stationery shop. I find Stacie Bloomfield refreshing to follow on Instagram due to her honesty and transparency. Plus, her artwork is so inspiring. You can even snag a free print in honor of International Women’s Day!
Dudley Stephens sells the most luxurious and sustainable fleeces ever. I have worn mine (the park slope) so frequently that the price per wear and quality make the sticker shock more palatable. I frequently day dream about purchasing another.
Candelles are the best candles! I pretty much have been exclusively burning this candle brand for the pat 3 or 4 years. The scents are the perfect combination of complexity without being sickening. I know ordering candles online can be unnerving without smelling them but I truly haven’t met a scent that I haven’t liked.
Rachel Allene Shop is another stationery shop that also sells the coziest apparel and inspiring coffee mugs. I have a few items that Fox gifted me and have gifted the daily gratitude journal to a friend. She is another maker that I enjoy following her on instagram.
3. Reusable water bottle cleaning instructions. I happened upon these instructions from Real Simple on Instagram on how to clean reusable water bottles. You probably are thinking how is it any different than doing dishes but I have found using vinegar for a deep cleaning to be highly effective for getting rid of the occasional unpleasant smell that develops in my stainless steel bottle.
4. Simplified grocery shopping. I enjoy grocery shopping each week. Meal planning and organizing my list are weekly tasks that I look forward to checking off each week. However, sometimes utilizing the shopping service offered by my local grocery store or using Whole Foods Prime delivery make life so much easier. I utilized pick up earlier this week on Tuesday and felt like a bad@$$ all day at work knowing I was working all day, would have groceries and still attend my weekly fitness class.
5. Best friends. Badger sent me this clip earlier in the week and it was too cute not to share.
