five simple things #9
There is something renewing about the first of the month starting on a Sunday. February (and last week) seemed to fly by. I am looking forward to this month with daylight savings and the first official day of spring. I will also be heading to a conference so that will be a nice way to break up the month. This weekend I spent at Mama Bear’s since Badger is in Los Angeles for a conference. We made a few crafts, shopped, and relaxed. I’m grateful that I didn’t waste the weekend just binge watching Netflix. Here is to kicking off the first week of March!
1. Bronze Die Pasta. Fox introduced me to this type of pasta around Christmas and I finally cooked the bag that I purchased. I cannot explain why and hope that you’ll trust me but this pasta tastes a million times better than typical pasta. Once you try it, you won’t go back!
2. The Lumineers. Badger and I purchased tickets for the Lumineers concert in the fall. The Tuesday night concert snuck up on both of us, particularly given on current schedules. However, we surprisingly got our work done and arrived at the concert in time to even hear part of the first opener’s set. I loved experiencing the Lumineers in person and already has me searching for our next concert.
3. Craft Time. I am not lying when I say I have had felt for over 5 years to make these coffee cozies. The project was incredibly simple after Mama Bear and I got the sewing machine up and running. I am not quite sure what I’ll be doing with the 6 cozies I made but it feels better than sheets of felt. We also made a pillow that I plan on taking to work, a few flannel “paper” towels and lavender scented sachets. My heart is very happy.
4. Painted Nails. I made sure to pack nail polish before heading to Mama Bears. Despite my efforts, I have not quite perfected the self manicure, particularly with darker colors. Since I know spring is right around the corner, I took one last opportunity to sport a grey-purple before spring hues dominate. Having my nails painted makes me feel just a little bit more put together. I either need to win the lottery to be able to get a manicure every two weeks or just keep practicing. Any helpful tips for doing your own nails?
5. A New Book. I feel like this one will make Fox jealous. I will admit- I am not a huge reader. Sitting still has not been my forte. I would much rather be crafting, moving, or organizing. However, if it is the right book at the right time I can be all in. I have seen this book talked about on the internet and Instagram and have been intrigued. I am looking forward to starting it.
