Hello! I didn’t realize how long it had been since my last post. I felt uninspired and in a funk and didn’t want to just post out of obligation. Lately, I have been adjusting to a new job and trying to figure out how to make summer still happen. I feel like I finally hit that stride this weekend and holy moly it was lovely. I hope that your weekend was filled with an opportunity to reset and escape even if it is even was only for a few hours.

1. The Peach Truck. This is the third year in a row that Mama Bear and I purchased peaches when the Peach Truck came to town. We split a 25 lbs box which seems a bit daunting but I love the stock pile in my freezer when peach season has come and gone. These are truly the best peaches you will eat and I wait for this season every year.

2. Kitchen mojo. While my kitchen looks nothing like this, it has not impacted the quality of the recipes that I have been making. I had been in a bit of a cooking rut, but over the past two weeks I’ve found the inspiration to try out several new recipes. Badger has graciously been doing the dishes which frees me up to have a bit more creativity in the kitchen. I recognize that I will likely not be able to keep up the rate of which I am making new recipes but I will continue to enjoy it while it lasts. I am already planning to make peach streusel muffins.

3. Saturday adventures. Pre-pandemic, attending the farmer’s markets was a weekly highlight for me. I was hesitant to return knowing that it wouldn’t quite be the same. However, the promise of zucchinis, fresh produce and supporting local farmers won me over this weekend. Fox and Badger were in for the adventure. While it was not the same (as to be expected), I really enjoyed our morning at the market. We even extended our morning by getting a delicious lunch.

4. Pickleball. Another part of our Saturday adventure was playing pickleball on an actual court. It was truly so much fun. Not to toot my own horn but I was the pickleball champ my freshmen year of high school in gym class. My skills have definitely deteriorated a bit but I honestly am having more fun now. I can’t wait for our next round.

5. Slow Sunday Mornings. This morning I woke up with no expectations for the day other than to grocery shop. We made pancakes, went for a walk, and had a movie night watching Ford vs. Ferrari. Not having expectations made the day feel a bit more luxurious and rounded the weekend to feel like a vacation escape.
