five simple things #14

five simple things #14

I notice myself writing this post later and later. It is no mystery to me as to why as I have a hard time thinking of five simple things to share. The world is in such an unknown and unfamiliar place. My days consist of remotely working, managing my own anxieties, and trying to seek the normalcy of routine. Writing this weekly post is part of my normal so I hope to start writing in my notebook ideas and posting earlier in the day.

1. Puzzles. With the current stay at home order in place through the end of April, I have been thinking of creative ways to enjoy the time. I love puzzles but don’t love the price of purchasing a new one. I borrowed this one from Mama Bear. Although I had hoped it would take a little longer than it did with Badger’s propensity for patterns, it was a great activity for this Sunday afternoon.

2. Culinary Challenges. This may not be a popular opinion but I do not enjoy working from home. I dislike how work has permeated the comfort of my two bedroom apartment. However, not having a commute with rush hour traffic has been a major perk. I’ve spent the extra time on some evenings prepare more complex and tasty meals. It has been a challenge to not waste fresh produce so thinking of creative ways of including what is a new meal planning twist.

3. Mint tea. This is not a tea that I would typically purchase. I would have been skeptical of the minty flavor. However, on a Thursday evening just because dinner with Mama Bear at Alta Via, we concluded our meal with a cup of hot tea. It was the perfect conclusion to a wonderful dining experience. I remember we immediately ordered the tea that weekend to enjoy at home. I only have two sachets remaining and hope to place an order soon to not only enjoy my warm cup of tea but to also be transported to that cozy memory.

4. Sunny runs. As much as I got into winter running this past season, I am gladly embracing sunny runs. This is another luxury of not having a long commute home from work as I can squeeze in a run before dinner without being starved. Running without headphones is almost mediative as I listen to the birds chirping, smell the blossomed flowers, and feel the breeze on my face.

5. Fitting words. Despite it being April 5, I just flipped my desk calendar when I briefly went into my office. I can’t quite explain it but April’s design from my Gingiber calendar seemed to really fit for the month.
