Hi.

Welcome to our blog! Here you will find moments from every day life- from favorite books to meal planning and the adventures of two sisters living in different zip codes.

I initially wasn’t sure if I would have anything to say. This week has felt surreal and honestly, I do not see the end in sight yet. However, what I am learning is to acknowledge and recognize the things I can control. So although this post is late, I can share five simple things to make this week’s Sunday scaries just a tad less scary.

1. A therapist’s guide to staying sane during a pandemic. Fox found this article from The Atlantic. I was initially hesitate to click the link as I have found myself overloaded with information related to the pandemic. However, the article normalized the anxiety that likely is a common emotion. I highly recommend taking the time to read the article.

2. Free print Mister Roger’s print. Lily & Val is one of my favorite small businesses and she happens to be local! Her chalkboard art is gorgeous. Several of her prints are hanging in my apartment and have made appearances in snail mail. She is currently donating 100% of profits to COVID-19 relief. Additionally, you can print this Mister Roger’s print for free.

3. Technology. Following recommendations to self isolate would be much more difficult without technology. This morning I streamed mass from St. Patrick’s Cathedral and later FaceTimed two friends. I am still trying to find the right balance but I am grateful for the opportunity to connect in a way other than just a text or call (which is still amazing).

4. Random internet gems. Badger continues to find random things on the internet. I don’t always understand the appeal but I will always welcome a cute animal picture. This also makes me chuckle about how badly Badger wants a haircut despite it not being an option right now. I foresee me “learning” a new skill soon.

5. Graditude. I will admit that I definitely experienced moments where I was not looking at the positive and may have only been entertaining the negative. However, spending time outside this weekend with my family (Fox, Mama Bear and Badger) reminded me how much I have to be grateful for and helped to shift my perspective. I hope to use this as a technique to center my anxious thoughts and focus my energy on what I have to be thankful and grateful for despite the circumstances.
