five simple things #6
This whole week I looked forward to Saturday since Mama Bear and I created a whole day of fun. Having something to look forward to can be such a welcomed reminder during the stressful chaos of the week. It is something that I would like to do more of intentionally. While I wish this weekend could be extended, I am going to get some work done and plan my pink/red outfits for the week. Valentine’s Day is one of my favorites!
1. A whole day with Mama Bear. For the past two weeks, I had been looking forward to Saturday. It initially started with a routine eyebrow waxing. When I realized there was also a Valentine’s Day themed I Made It! Market, I knew we had to make it a whole day out of it. We were ladies who got pampered, shopped, lunched, and baked! I am so grateful we have opportunities to have days like this.
2. Weekly mediation. This year at work we implemented a weekly mediation every Thursday. We take turns bringing in lunch and then partake in about 20-30 minutes of guided mediation. This week was a little different with the focus being on thinking of a peaceful place. I envisioned a beach that we visited each year as a family growing up. I felt incredibly relaxed and felt my stress (well at least some of it) melt away. I’m tempted to write that I want to do mediation on a more regular basis. Instead, I am going to give myself grace that I’ve made a small change that I am sustaining.
3. Cereal. Yes- cereal. This week I have had it for a snack as well as dinner. It is quick, tasty and the dishes go straight into the dishwasher. When I find myself eating cereal for dinner, it reminds me of what I imagined being an adult was like as a child. You won’t find it on my meal plan for next week but life happens.
4. Ingredient inspired recipes. After Badger’s birthday brunch two weeks ago, I had left over ingredients. I needed to get more creative this time as I could not use the freezer as my go to way of preserving leftovers. I went into mass production mode and made three quiches, one of which will be delivered to Mama Bear. To not waste buttermilk, I found this muffin recipe. I’m happy to report that no ingredients were wasted and our freezer is stocked!
5. Galentine’s Prep. This Saturday I am helping host a Galentine’s Day get together. I plan to write a post solely dedicated to the gathering and where my love for the holiday originated. For now , I am sharing a tiny glimpse into the prep for later this week. This will be the first time that I am attempting to host a cookie swap so fingers crossed!
Good Vibes Only.
