Happy Sunday! I used a vacation day so I am on day three of the weekend. Let me tell you- it as glorious to not have any work responsibilities on Friday. I lounged in the morning, finished up my part of cleaning, made edible cookie dough and went for a run with Fox. The rest of the weekend included more relaxing, running (when the sun was shining), and cooking. I hope that you had a nice weekend and this week goes smoothly!

1. A Head Full of Dreams. Saturday night we watched this documentary which chronicled the journey of Coldplay becoming the band that they are today. It was a wonderful mix of biographical and concert material. I enjoyed learning how certain hits came to fruition as well as how the 4 man band has remained together over the past 20 years.

2. Voting preparation. The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically impacted so many aspects of life including daily routines, the easy of running out to grab anything, and work. It also has impacted many primary elections. In my home state of Pennsylvania, our primary date was moved to June 2. I strongly encourage you if your state has not had their primary election that you look up when it may be occurring and to complete any necessary forms if mail-in ballots are being offered. I had an extremely easy process over the weekend applying in Pennsylvania. I encourage you all to exercise your civic right to vote.

3. New skill. Badger is mostly no frills, low maintenance and happy to be home. His one self-care task is getting a haircut every 4 weeks. When he learned that he could not get one secondary to the stay at home order, he quickly went into action. He found a clipper set on Amazon that included a cape and scissors, sent me videos to watch, and decided to trust me with the task of giving him a haircut. This weekend, I cut his hair for the second time. My skill improved (I am not longer ripping out his hair with the scissors) but I don’t think I will be come his regular barber any time soon. It has been a fun experience but also stressful. I am glad he is okay with the less than stellar results.

4. At home ice cream cones. I recently told Fox that I missed going to the ice cream parlor for an ice cream cone. She laughed that I called an ice cream shop a parlor but also agreed. There is something so simple about going for an ice cream cone, sitting on a bench to enjoy it and being fully present in that moment. One of our local ice cream shops started offering pints and sundae toppings to go and I couldn’t resist. It was a delightful Friday night treat.

5. Infused water. Wanting something tasty to drink I threw together strawberries, fresh lemon juice and water in a large mason jar tumbler. It created a refreshing twist on water that was exactly what I was hoping for. I have made varieties in the past and was glad to revisit an old favorite. Surprisingly strawberries and basil are an amazing combination. Let me know your favorite combinations in the comments!
